Baseball Drops Doubleheader, Swept By Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – UNC Pembroke was held to one run across Saturday's doubleheader and fell 3-0 and 4-1 to home-standing Emmanuel as the Braves fell victim to a series sweep Saturday afternoon at Tommy Carey Field.

Jonathon Jacobs picked up the tough-luck loss in Game 2, allowing just three earned runs in six innings, while Kasen McCawley turned in a solid start in Game 3 by giving up just one earned run across five innings.

The Braves (20-13, 9-9 CC) dropped to 6-6 in the all-time series with the Lions (17-18, 10-11 CC), and are now 1-4 when playing at Emmanuel.

UNCP will be back in action Tuesday, April 1 as they host Coker for a non-conference matchup. Due to still-ongoing construction at Sammy Cox Field, the game will be held at CarolinaBank Field in Florence, S.C. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

TOP 1 Blake Hinson was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and moved to second on Isaias Villarreal's single. A Will Hood opposite-field RBI single scored Hinson to give the Braves a quick 1-0 lead.
BOT 6 After Emmanuel tied the game at 1-1 in the fifth, Dobbs Bowden delivered a two-out, two-run single to give the Lions a 3-1 lead.
