Baseball Drops Midweek Contest At Coker

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – UNC Pembroke's ninth-inning rally fell just short, as the Braves left 13 runners on base and fell 6-5 to Coker in non-conference action Tuesday evening at Tom J. New Field.

Isaias Villarreal and Landon Lucas each turned in 2-5 days, with Lucas chipping in with two RBI.

The Braves (13-6) fell to 34-13 in the all-time series with the Cobras (13-6).


UNCP will be back in action Wednesday as they host Bridgeport for a non-conference matchup. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Due to ongoing renovations at Sammy Cox Field, the game will take place at CarolinaBank Field in Florence, S.C.

KEY INNINGS
TOP 1 Luis Ramirez led off the game with a walk and moved to second on a Blake Hinson walk, before they both advanced 90 feet on a wild pitch. Isaias Villareal scored Ramirez with an RBI groundout to give the Braves a quick 1-0 lead.
BOT 3 Three UNCP errors and a passed ball along with two Coker hits led to a four-run inning to give the hosts a 4-1 lead.
TOP 4 Jake Bradley reached a Coker error and eventually came around to score on a Ramses Cordova RBI single to make it 4-2.
TOP 5 Villarreal singled to lead off the frame, followed by walks from Will Hood and Hayden Davis to load the bases. Landon Lucas delivered a two-run single to knot the score at 4-4.
BOT 8 After Coker retook the lead in the fifth, Gabriel Santiago made it 6-4 with an RBI single.
TOP 9 Hood worked a leadoff walk and moved to second on a two-out single from Lucas. Ashton Donathan followed with an RBI single to make it 6-5, before the Cobras closed out the win with a fly out.
