Men’s Basketball Trio Earns All-Conference, Cobb Named Defensive Player Of The Year

March 5, 2025

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The UNC Pembroke men's basketball trio of Bradlee Haskell, JaJuan Carr and Dallas Gardner all were named to the all-conference teams, while Elijah Cobb was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Year, with the release of the Conference Carolinas men's basketball all-conference teams on Thursday morning.

Four schools sent multiple selections to the all-conference team, but UNCP and Emmanuel finished with a league-best three each. It is the 10th straight season that the program has been represented with multiple selection on the all-conference squad, and the fifth-straight year that three players have collected the honor.

Haskell picked up his third consecutive all-conference nod earning first team honors, while Carr earned his second all-conference accolade landing a spot on second team. It is the first all-conference recognition for Gardner, who was selected as a third team all-conference honoree. Cobb was also honored earning a spot on the all-defensive team.

A native of Southern Pines, Haskell has seen action in every game this season and leads the team averaging 17.6 points per game. The senior is shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 46.8 percent from the perimeter, which ranks third in the nation. Haskell has scored in double-figures in 26 games this season, including a career-high 30 points at Lander earlier this season.

An everyday starter for the Black & Gold, Carr averages 12.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. A native of Burgaw, Carr ranks fifth in the league shooting 55.7 percent from the floor and has made good on 44-percent of his attempts from the perimeter this season. The senior has scored in every game this season, and matched a career-high 23 points against Chowan this season.

A product of Charlotte Country Day, Gardner ranks second on the team averaging 14.9 points per game after seeing action in all games this season. The sophomore leads the team in steals with 33 on the season, and is shooting 47.1 percent from the floor. Gardner turned in a career-best 32-point performance this season against Barton and has scored in double-figures 24 times this season.

Cobb becomes the first player in the history of the program to earn consecutive Defensive Player of the Year laurels, and is just the second player in Conference Carolinas history to earn the honor in back-to-back season. A native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Cobb is shooting 53.6 percent from the floor and averages 8.7 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. The redshirt senior leads the team in blocks with 24 blocks and has five double-doubles this season.
