Baseball Drops Series Opener To Francis Marion

FLORENCE, S.C. – 23rd-ranked Francis Marion scored eight runs before an out was recorded in the top of the first as part of an 11-run inning on the way to an 18-11 win over UNC Pembroke in the series opener Friday night at CarolinaBank Field.

The game featured a one hour and 57 minute lightning delay in the top of the first inning.

Hayden Davis and Jake Bradley each had three hits to pace the offense, with Bradley adding three RBI, including a two-run homer. Ashton Donathan also homered for the Braves and chipped in two RBI.

The Braves (21-18, 9-13 CC) fell to 48-76-1 in the all-time series with the Patriots (32-9, 19-6 CC).

UNCP will be back in action Saturday as the two squads wrap up the series with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.

TOP 1 Francis Marion jumped out to an 11-0 lead on nine hits, two walks, and two hit by pitches.
BOT 1 UNC Pembroke got three runs back in its half on a Jake Bradley RBI single and a Landon Lucas two-run to single to make it 11-3.
BOT 4 Hayden Davis doubled with two outs and came home to score on Bradley's two-run blast to left to make it 14-7.
