Softball Falls To No. 2 Francis Marion In Season Finale

MAXTON - The UNC Pembroke softball team had its eight-game win streak snapped on Wednesday after falling twice to No. 2 Francis Marion at Purnell Swett High School. 
 
The Braves were limited to just two hits, as the Patriots put up two runs in the top of the fifth inning on the way to a 3-0 victory to start the series. 
 
UNCP rallied and scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to hold a 4-3 lead, but Francis Marion sent the game to extra innings scoring a run in the top of the seventh inning. The Patriots scored the final run of the game in the top of the ninth inning with the international tiebreaker rule in play.

TOP 5 Mikaela Goss singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. The Patriots put runners on the corner with a bunt single from Madalyn White. A double from Emily Konz scored a pair of runners to give FMU a 2-0 lead. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 6 The Braves put runners on first and second with a single from Katie Hogue and a walk from Chloe Locklear. Kylie Johnson smacked a two-run triple to right field and would score on a single from Kynley Brewer. 
TOP 9 Emily Konz start the inning on second and stole third. Kendal Miller singled to score Konz.
