Baseball Falls To Wingate In Midweek Action

WINGATE – UNC Pembroke held the lead on three different occasions, but Wingate answered back each time and thwarted a ninth-inning rally to leave the bases loaded and take a 10-8 win over the Braves in non-conference action Tuesday night at Ron Christopher Stadium.

Wingate took advantage of a season-high 14 walks by UNC Pembroke pitchers, as well as four errors by the Braves.

Hayden Davis paced the offense with a 3-5 night, including a triple and three RBI. Will Hood added a solo homer as part of a 2-4 night.

The Braves (21-17) fell to 54-37 in the all-time series with the Bulldogs (21-17), ending a six-game winning streak over Wingate in the process.

UNCP will be back in action Friday, April 11 as they host Francis Marion for a Conference Carolinas series. Due to delays in construction at Sammy Cox Field, the series will be held at CarolinaBank Field in Florence, S.C. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
