July 30, 2025

PEMBROKE – UNC Pembroke Director Of Cross Country/Track & Field Peter Ormsby has announced the addition of Justice Ricketts as assistant coach for the Braves.

Prior to his stint at Southern Virginia, Ricketts was an assistant track & field and sport performance coach at the University of North Georgia from 2018-2021.

"We're pleased to have someone with Coach Ricketts' credentials join #BraveNation," said Ormsby. "For him to have a resume that includes multiple conference champions, NCAA All-Americans, and an NCAA National Champion, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that all of our athletes should benefit from."

In his time at Southern Virginia, Ricketts coached ten USA South Conference individual champions, ten USA South Conference team champions, three All-Region individuals, three USA South Conference individual record-holders, and one NCAA All-American.

Ricketts worked specifically with jumps/sprints/throws as an assistant coach at North Georgia, and in 2021 coached three Peach Belt Conference champions, as well as the Division II women's pole vault national champion and the seventh-place finisher in the women's 400m.

"I'm excited to join UNC Pembroke and #BraveNation and be part of the program's proud legacy and ongoing success, while helping each student-athlete reach their full potential on and off the track," said Ricketts.

Ricketts earned his bachelor's degree in 2019 from North Georgia in kinesiology, while also earning a master's degree in kinesiology from North Georgia in 2021, as well. Ricketts also holds certifications in CSCS, PES, USAW, USATF, and USTFCCCA.
