Volleyball Holds Off North Greenville In Five Sets

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The UNC Pembroke volleyball team hit .160 from the net to fend off North Greenville 3-2 in Conference Carolinas action on Friday evening inside Hayes Gymnasium. 

The Braves have now won their last four games on the road and improve to 6-4 all-time against the Trailblazers. 

Abby Peduzzi and Tyler Patterson both logged double-doubles during Friday's victory.

SET 1 I 25-27 A kill from Alexandria Mills put UNC Pembroke out in front 18-16 late in the opening set, but North Greenville answered winning the next six points to lead 22-18. With the score locked at 25, the Trailblazers took the first set winning the final two points.   
    - UNCP out-hit NGU .075 to .000 in the set.
    - Abby Peduzzi logged a team-best eight kills in the set.
SET 2 I 25-18 The Braves used a kill from Abby Peduzzi to lead 17-9, before establishing a 23-12 lead. NGU went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit back to 23-18, but UNCP won the final two points of the set. 
    - UNCP out-hit NGU .195 to .156 in the set.
    - Savannah Whaley, Deorri Gaines and Abby Peduzzi each logged a pair of kills. 
SET 3 I 15-25 North Greenville pushed its lad out to 18-9 late in the set after a service ace. UNCP chipped away at the deficit, 24-15, but an ill-timed service error from the Braves gave the set to NGU. 
    - NGU out-hit UNCP .286 to .071in the set. 
    - Addie Decker logged a trio of kills. 
SET 4 I 25-16 The Braves won four points in a row to lead 18-9, and would close out the set winning seven of the final 13 points to send the match to a deciding fifth set. 
    - UNCP out-hit NGU .256 to .000 in the set.
    - Abby Peduzzi registered five kills.
    - Alexandria Mills picked up a solo block during the set. 
SET 5 I 15-10 UNC Pembroke got a quick start establishing a 9-3 lead after a solo block from Alexandria Mills. North Greenville cut the score to 12-8, but UNCP won three of the final five points to win the match. 
    - UNCP out-hit NGU .222 to .031 in the set.
    - Addie Decker had six kills.
