Soccer Battles But Falls To Francis Marion In Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship

BROWNS SUMMIT — UNC Pembroke allowed a late first-half goal and could not find the second-half equalizer needed to beat Francis Marion for a third time this season, falling 1-0 Saturday afternoon in the Conference Carolinas Tournament Championship at Bryan Park.

Francis Marion's Nalani Hunt scored the lone goal in the 43rd minute on the assist from Camryn Bliss.

The Braves (12-2-5) fell to 8-10-5 all-time against the Patriots (15-4-1) and had its three-match winning streak over Francis Marion snapped. The loss also put a halt to the Black & Gold's program-record 17-match unbeaten streak.

The Braves entered the day ranked fourth in the Southeast Region NPI rankings and will now look to grab an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament. The Division II selection show is set for Monday, November 9 at 7:30 p.m. and can be viewed at NCAA.com. Tournament action is slated to begin Friday, November 13.
