Softball Rolls By USC Aiken In Twinbill Sweep

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team tallied double-digit hits in both games to help fuel a non-conference sweep over USC Aiken on Tuesday afternoon at Willoughby Field. 

The Braves used a pair of home runs from Alona Hanna to start the day to go along with 11 hits to take the opening game 7-2. The Black & Gold completed the sweep with 10 hits and a home run from Summer Bullard in the back half of the doubleheader to defeat the Pacers 11-3 in five innings.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 1 Alex Serbio singled up the middle and would score on a home run from Alona Hanna over the left centerfield fence to give UNCP an early 2-0 lead. 
BOT 4 Alex Serbio beat out an infield single, but Alona Hanna sent another one out of the park to cushion the UNCP lead 7-0.
TOP 5 Madilyn Rouse started the inning with a leadoff single followed by a double to the outfield gap from Kaylee Bolding. Cameron Greene cleared the bases with a single to right field. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 3 UNC Pembroke put runners on first and second following a Cayden Thomas walk and a single to the outfield from Maggie Cunningham, but Summer Bullard cleared the bases with a three-run blast over the left field fence. Maddie Gerovac singled followed by a walk from Emma Wrenn, but both runners would advance a base on a passed ball. Cirstin Calloway drove home both runners with a single to right field to put UNCP ahead 8-1.
