Softball Rolls By Ferrum

PEMBROKE - The UNC Pembroke softball team picked up its seventh series sweep of the season by taking a pair of games from Ferrum on Tuesday afternoon at Willougby Field.

The Braves scored multiple runs in all four innings of the opening contest and registered 11 hits to defeat the Panthers 10-0 in five innings. Ferrum sparked a rally in the fifth innings but stranded seven runners during the contest and fell 4-2 to UNC Pembroke in the back half of the doubleheader.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
BOT 3	Chloe Locklear singled to left field, but Makayla Etling sent one over the centerfield fence to give the Braves a 5-0 lead. Cirstin Calloway drew a walk, advanced to second on a throwing error, and would score on a triple from Alona Hanna. UNCP would score one more run in the inning to take a 7-0 advantage.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 3	Kaitlyn King smacked a double down the left field line and would score on a single up the middle from Alex Serbio. A single to the outfield gap from Kaitlynn Hunt scored Serbio for an early 2-0 lead.
TOP 5	Ferrum loaded the bases with three consecutive singles to the outfield. A sacrifice fly from Sadie Smith scored one run, followed by an RBI single up the middle from Abby Bradberry to cut the Panthers deficit back to 3-2.
BOT 5	Emma Wrenn drew a walk, stole second, and advanced to third. A groundout from Chloe Locklear plated Wrenn for an insurance run for the Braves.
