Baseball Drops Series Opener To No. 15 Young Harris

PEMBROKE– No. 23 UNC Pembroke allowed five multi-run innings on the way to a 16-3 loss to No. 15 Young Harris in the series opener Friday evening at Sammy Cox Field.

Young Harris racked up 22 hits, marking the most allowed by UNC Pembroke since giving up 23 to Augusta on February 16, 2019.

Landon Lucas drove in two runs, while Mason Mozeley added the other on a solo home run.

The Braves (19-7, 12-4 CC) dropped to 19-11 all-time against the Mountain Lions (21-6, 14-2 CC), and have now lost three straight when playing Young Harris in Pembroke.

The Black & Gold will be back in action Saturday as they wrap up the series with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

TOP 1 Young Harris struck first on a Jack Enrico two-out RBI double to take a quick 1-0 lead.
TOP 3 The Mountain Lions stretched the lead on a Keypher Contreras RBI single before Jeo Hernandez followed with a sac fly. Young Harris executed a first and third double steal to make it 4-0.
BOT 6 Trailing 10-1 going to the home half of the sixth, Landon Lucas made it 10-3 on a two-run single, before Young Harris would score the final six runs of the game.
