Softball Takes Series At Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. - The UNC Pembroke softball team recorded 17 hits and used dominating performances in the circle from Summer Bullard and Rachel Mori to sweep Emmanuel on Saturday afternoon. 
 
The Braves got a quick start to the day scoring three runs in the first inning to set the tone early and defeat the Lions 4-2. UNCP did not log a strikeout in game two and used a second inning three-run homer from Alona Hanna to complete the sweep with a score of 5-0.

KEY INNINGS (GAME 1)
TOP 1 Alex Serbio got the game started with a double and scored on a double from Emma Wrenn. Alona Hanna drew a walk, then both runners advanced on a wild pitch. Chloe Locklear knocked a single through the infield to score both runners and give the Braves an early 3-0 lead. 
BOT 3 Emmanuel loaded the bases after Shelby Rinefierd reached via an error, Grace Ausborn drew a walk and Arlie Gooden reached on an error. Ciara Passmore's single to the outfield scored a pair of runners to cut the score to 3-2. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
TOP 2 Megan Ellis singled and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt from Kaitlyn King. Alex Serbio scored Ellis with a double, followed by a single from Emma Wrenn to put runners on the corners, but Alona Hanna sent one out of the park for a three-run blast to give UNCP a 4-0 lead.
