Women's Basketball Duo Named To Academic All-District Team

PEMBROKE  – Hard work in the classroom and on the court paid dividends for Natalie Evington and Anastasia Sinclair as the duo was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team on Tuesday. 
 
The announcement marks the fourth consecutive season that the program has had multiple student-athletes honored on the distinguished list. It is the second-straight honor for both Evington and Sinclair. 
 
To be nominated, a student-athlete must start in 66 percent of the contests or see action in 90 percent of the total number of games. A student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution. The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50. 
 
A product of Red Springs, Evington saw action in all 28 games logging 18 starts. The junior averaged 9.3 points per game and shot 81.0 percent from the free throw line. Evington scored in double-figures in 12 games this season, including a career-high 29 points at Mount Olive. She also broke her own school record for most three-pointers made in a single game with nine at Mount Olive. 

Sinclair played in 21 games tallying 20 starts on the season. A native of Charlotte, Sinclair averaged 8.7 points per game and finished the season with 25 steals. The junior scored in every game she played in, including nine games with double-figure scoring. She had a pair of 20 point games this season scoring a season-best 22 points against Coker, and 20 points at Chowan.
