Softball Splits Division Doubleheader At Mount Olive

MOUNT OLIVE - The UNC Pembroke softball split a divisional doubleheader at Mount Olive on Saturday afternoon at Cassell Field. 
 
Both teams struggled to record hits to start the day, but a two-run homer from Chloe Locklear in the top of the sixth inning broke the tie and and gave the Braves a 3-1 victory. The Trojans registered 12 hits in the second game of the day and held the Braves to just two hits to fuel an 8-1 victory to salvage a split of the doubleheader.

TOP 6 Kaitlynn Hunt got the inning started with a single to left field, but Chloe Locklear sent one out of the park with a two-run blast to give the Braves a 3-1 lead. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 1 Samantha Taylor started the inning with a leadoff single, moved to second on a passed ball, and reached third on a sacrifice bunt. A single up the middle from Emma King scored Taylor. Elizabeth Thome singled to the outfield, but Emily Saw sent one over the center field fence to give the Trojans a 4-1 lead.
