Men’s Basketball Duo Named All-Conference

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Good news continued for the UNC Pembroke men's basketball team on Thursday morning when Nygell Verdier and Moe Bangura were both named to the Conference Carolinas All-Conference team.
 
The Braves have now had multiple players named to the Conference Carolinas all-conference team all-five seasons since joining the league during the 2021-22 season. Verdier was also named to the Conference Carolinas All-Defensive team and is the second player to earn the honor.
 
A native of Charlotte, Verdier was named 2nd team all-conference after seeing action in 25 games logging 23 starts. The redshirt senior averaged 12.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 45.1 percent from the field. He scored in every game and logged double-figure scoring in 14 games. Verdier scored a career-high 26 points at Barton earlier this season and posted a pair of double-double performances. Verdier finished the season with 26 steals and a team-high 158 rebounds. 
 
Bangura started in 28 games and averaged 13.4 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. A native or Lorton, Va., Bangura finished the regular season shooting 57.5 percent from the floor and recorded a team-best 25 blocks. The redshirt senior scored in all 28 games and posted two double-doubles. Bangura recorded a career-high 26 points at Barton in January. 
 
The Braves will play in the Conference Carolinas Tournament semifinals on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. inside the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
