Baseball Rallies Late To Pick Up Road Win At USC Aiken

AIKEN, S.C. – UNC Pembroke headed into the eighth inning facing a 3-0 deficit, but the Braves rallied for four runs with two outs and then held on to knock off USC Aiken 4-3 in non-conference action Tuesday evening at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

Landon Lucas provided the go-ahead two-run homer in the eighth, and then threw a perfect ninth inning to nail down the save. 

The Braves bullpen of Marcus Locklear, Taylor Batten, Ryan Wells, and Lucas held the Pacers scoreless over the final 7.1 innings.

The Braves (24-9) moved to 41-49 all-time against the Pacers (25-10), and have now won six straight at USC Aiken in the series.

The Black & Gold will be back in action Friday as they make the short trek to Florence for a Conference Carolinas series against No. 11 Francis Marion. First pitch Friday is set for 6 p.m.

KEY INNINGS
BOT 2 USC Aiken would strike first on RBI singles from Johann Rodriguez and Donovan Glisson, while Osmin Melendez capped off the scoring with an RBI double to make it 3-0.
TOP 8 Hayden Davis got the Braves on the board with a two-out RBI triple, before a USC Aiken error allowed Davis to score and extended the inning. Landon Lucas put the Braves in front 4-3 with a two-run pump to left center.
