Softball Sweeps Chowan

PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke softball team used timely hitting to secure a sweep over Chowan on Friday afternoon at Willoughby Field. 

The Braves took the opening game 1-0 in eight innings with a sacrifice fly from Kaitlyn King in the bottom of  coupled with 11 strikeouts from Summer Bullard. UNCP completed the sweep with a 4-0 victory in the back half of the doubleheader highlighted by a three-run homer from Chloe Locklear in the bottom of the first inning.

BOT 8 With the International tiebreaker rule in play, Makayla Etling started the inning on second base. Maddie Gerovac advanced the runner with a bunt single, but a sacrifice fly from Kaitlyn King scored Etling to break the tie. 
KEY INNINGS (GAME 2)
BOT 1 Alex Serbio drew a leadoff walk followed by single to center field from Cirstin Calloway. Chloe Locklear lit up the scoreboard with a three-run blast over the center field fence.
