Baseball Takes Series Opener At King

BRISTOL, Tenn. – UNC Pembroke rode an excellent relief outing from Jarred Lindholm on the way to an 8-3 series-opening win over King in Conference Carolinas action Friday afternoon.

Lindholm threw a career-high 4.2 innings out of the bullpen, allowing just two earned runs while striking out a career-high five batters.

Mason Mozeley finished a homer short of the cycle and added two RBI, while Landon Lucas and Peyton Young each chipped in two RBI, as well. Branton Jernigan added two triples as the Braves tallied three triples in a game for the first time since February 29, 2020. 

The Braves (27-15, 17-11 CC) improved to 13-1 all-time against the Tornado (12-32, 9-19 CC). 

The Black & Gold will be back in action Saturday as they close out the series with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

TOP 1 The Braves struck first as Daniel Stephens walked, stole second, and came on a Landon Lucas two-run homer. Branton Jernigan would later triple and score on Morgan Padgett's RBI single to make it 3-0.
TOP 5 After King cut it to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth, UNCP responded with three runs on RBI singles from Mason Mozeley and Peyton Young and an RBI hit by pitch from Tyler Steele to stretch the lead to 6-1.
