Baseball Falls To No. 4 Seed Young Harris In Extra Innings

GASTONIA – No. 5 seed UNC Pembroke clawed back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game in the eighth inning, but No. 4 seed and 24th-ranked Young Harris got a walk-off sac fly in the bottom of the 10th to take a 5-4 win over the Braves in Conference Carolinas Tournament action Thursday afternoon at Sims Legion Park.

Landon Lucas tallied his 20th home run of the season, becoming the first Brave to join the 20 double-20 home run club since Collins Cuthrell in 2015.

Daniel Stephens added a solo home run as part of a 2-5 outing, while Boone Herman also had a pair of a hits on a 2-3 day.

The Braves (32-17) fell to 19-14 in the all-time series against the Mountain Lions (36-15), and have now lost seven of the last eight matchups against Young Harris.

The Braves will be back in action Friday as they look to keep the season alive in an elimination game against King. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. at CaroMont Health Park.
