Soccer Battles To Draw Against Barton

PEMBROKE – After a scoreless first half, UNC Pembroke struck eight minutes into the second half to take the lead but was unable to hold it on the way to a 1-1 draw Saturday afternoon against Barton at LREMC Stadium.

Jahniyah Augustus tallied her second goal of the season while Klara Persson logged her fifth assist.

The Braves (4-1-4, 3-0-3 CC) moved to 17-3-3 in the all-time series with the Bulldogs (5-3-1, 3-2-1 CC), and remain unbeaten against Barton since 2006.
 
SCORING SUMMARY
53' A Barton foul gave UNC Pembroke a free kick, where Klara Persson delivered a perfect service to the head of Jahniyah Augustus, who redirected into the back of the net to give the Braves a 1-0 lead.
67' Barton's Aubrey Mayberry flicked on a ball into the box, where Ziara Brunson beat a defender and tapped the ball into the net to knot the score at 1-1.
TOP BRAVES
+ Jahniyah Augustus scored the lone UNCP goal on two shots.
+ Klara Persson logged her fifth assist of the season.
+ Willow Price tallied a match-high four shots.
+ Addison Ellsworth made three saves to record her 13th career clean sheet.
NOTABLES
+ UNCP out-shot Barton 19-8 but were only able to put three on target, while Barton logged four shots on goal.
+ The Braves won the corner kick battle 8-4.
 
UP NEXT
The Braves will be back in action Wednesday, September 30 as they host Chowan for Youth Night. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at LREMC Stadium.
