2009 (JUNIOR): Played in 10 games for UNCP … Registered 11 tackles (four solo), including three tackles for loss (-10 yards) … Also accounted for 1-1/2 sacks (-7 yards), four quarterback hurries and a forced fumble … Tallied at least two tackles against three opponents, including a season-best six stops (three solo) against Saint Paul’s … Performance against the Tigers also included three tackles for loss (1-1/2 sacks) for a loss of 10 yards, as well as a forced fumble … Also totaled two tackles against both Wingate and Lane … Turned in two quarterback hurries at Fairmont State, and lone quarterback hurries against both Lane and Webber International.

2008 (SOPHOMORE): Played in all 10 games for UNCP … Amassed 10 tackles (six solo), including an assist on a tackle for loss … Registered at least one tackle against six different opponents … Tallied two assisted tackles at Webber International, and three solo tackles in the following game at West Virginia Wesleyan … Also made two assisted tackles against Concord, including one on a tackle for loss.

2007 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Played in all 11 games as a member of UNCP’s special teams … Registered a tackle assist on a kickoff return against Greensboro.

HIGH SCHOOL: An all-conference standout for Cary High School and coach Ben Kolstad … Amassed 40 solo tackles, seven sacks and one blocked kick, while also catching 15 passes for 180 yards and six touchdowns as a prep senior in captaining the Imps to an 11-3 record and a spot in the state playoffs … Also rushed one time for seven yards … Earned all-conference laurels at season’s end … Hauled in 13 passes for 100 yards and four touchdowns as a junior … Also lettered as a part of CHS’s lacrosse and track teams.

PERSONAL: The son of Marty Thomas was born on June 4, 1987 … Has a younger brother, Anthony, and a younger sister, Olivia … Graduated in the top half of his 571-member senior class at Cary High School … Enrolled in pre-major studies at UNCP.
