AS A JUNIOR (2014): Did not see game action.

BEFORE UNCP: Played two seasons at Louisburg Community College … Played in three games as a sophomore (2012), recording 10 tackles (seven solo) … Played in five games as a freshman and recorded three tackles (two solo).

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Lee County High School for coach Burton Cates … Registered 31 tackles, four forced fumbles and three pass break-ups as a senior in leading the Yellow Jackets to a 9-4 record and a deep run in the state playoffs … Recorded 40 tackles, six pass break-ups, four interceptions and two forced fumbles as a junior en route to all-conference honors … Also lettered in track & field at Lee County.

PERSONAL: The son of Denise and Ulyess Upchurch … Has one brother, David, and one sister, Annise … Has a daughter, Kaiden … Cousin, Aaron Mellette, is a wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens … A criminal justice major at UNCP.
