2008 (SOPHOMORE): A first team selection to the ICAA all-NCAA Independent and third team selection to the D2Football.com all-NCAA Independent squads … Ranked 39th (out of 100) in NCAA Division II statistics in punting average … Averaged 39.0 yards on 36 punts, with 10 of his kicks (28.5 pct.) downed inside the 20-yard line … Booked three punts of 50 yards or more, include a program-best 69-yard boot against Jacksonville … Also tallied a trio of touchbacks on the season as well … Tallied only blocked punt of season at Webber International … Had his best game of the season against the Dolphins at home, recording a 41.7 yard average on a season-high seven punts, while pinning Jacksonville inside its own 20 on three occasions … Recorded his highest average of the campaign at Webber International, punting three times for 141 yards (47.0 avg.), while also pinning the Warriors inside the 20-yard line twice … Also kicked off once at WIU.

2007 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Averaged 36.7 yards on 57 punts, with nine of his kicks (15.7 pct.) downed inside the 20-yard line … Registered five punts of 50 yards or more and tallied four touchbacks … Punted five or more times in seven games, including eight kicks against Davidson and Wingate … Punted eight times for 271 yards (33.9 avg.) in the program opener at Davidson, but pinned the Wildcats inside the 20-yard line twice … Recorded a 38.2 average on eight punts against Wingate at home … Tallied a 41.0 average (six punts) against West Virginia Wesleyan and 41.8 average on four punts against Faulkner … Had best day of season in finale at North Greenville, punting five times for 226 yards (45.2 avg.), including a season-long 54-yard boot … Numbers earned him special teams player of the week accolades from the Independents Collegiate Athletic Association.

BEFORE UNCP: Spent one season as a tight end at Appalachian State (2006), but redshirted and did not see varsity action.

HIGH SCHOOL: A standout wide receiver at Monroe High School for coach Bobby Cloninger … Hauled in 37 passes for 684 yards and seven touchdowns in leading the Redhawks to an 11-3 record and a deep run in the state playoffs as a prep senior … Earned team spirit award, as well as second consecutive all-county and all-conference nods … Garnered coaches award laurels as a junior after catching 29 passes for 525 yards and five touchdowns … Was also an all-county basketball player at Monroe … Also lettered in track & field and tennis for the Redhawks.

PERSONAL: The son of Carol and Dan Hinson was born on Nov. 22, 1986 … Has an older brother, Brad, who is a former quarterback at Wingate … Graduated in the top 15 percent of his 145-member senior class at Monroe High School while maintaining a 3.75 cumulative grade point average … A business administration major at UNCP.
