HIGH SCHOOL: A decorated offensive lineman at Independence High School for coach Tom Knotts … Captained the Patriots to a 13-3 record and a runner-up finish in the state playoffs as a prep senior … Earned all-conference laurels at season’s end … Outstanding senior season followed a junior campaign in which the Patriots finished 16-0 with a state title to their credit.

PERSONAL: The son of Mary Lou and Tuan Thompson was born on Feb. 11, 1990 … Has an older sister, Christina, and a younger brother, Ryan, who is currently a linebacker with the Braves … A criminal justice major at UNCP.
