2007 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): A second team   selection to both the D2Football.com and ICAA all-NCAA Independent  squad  … Started all 11 games for UNCP … Ranked sixth on team with 41  tackles  (25 solo), including a team-best 16 tackles for loss (-59  yards) … Also  recorded five sacks, two forced fumbles, a pair of  quarterback hurries  and one interception … Tallied at least four  tackles against five  different opponents, including eight against both  Greensboro and Concord  … Totaled six solo tackles against Greensboro,  while also posting four  tackles for loss (1/2 sack) … Made five tackles  at Jacksonville while  also turning in his first career forced fumble …  Tallied only  interception of the season against Faulkner to stop a  second quarter  drive at the Braves 20-yard line … Also grabbed a pair  of quarterback  hurries and broke up a pass against Faulkner … Matched  season high with  four tackles for loss at Concord, but turned in 3-1/2  sacks amidst a  school record eight sacks by the Braves.
HIGH  SCHOOL:  A two-time all-county and all-conference selection,  as well as a  two-time team most valuable player designee, for Jordan  Matthews High  School and coach Marty Scotton … Amassed a team-leading  75 tackles and  captained the Jets to a 6-5 record as a senior … Took  home second  consecutive all-county, all-conference and team most  valuable player  accolades at season’s end … Also placed first in county  weightlifting  competition … Among tackle leaders as a junior as well  while pacing JMHS  to a 6-5 clip … Also lettered in track for the Jets.
