AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2010): Saw his lone action on special teams in the season opener with Fayetteville State.

2009 (FRESHMAN): Redshirted. Did not see varsity action.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Ragsdale High School for coach Tommy Norwood … Registered more than 1,000 all-purpose yards as a prep senior in leading Tigers to a 13-1 record and a spot in the state playoffs … Accounted for 11 touchdowns (five passing, three rushing, three return) … Earned coach’s award at season’s end … Was also a standout on the basketball and track and field teams at Ragsdale.

PERSONAL: The son of Stephanie Walden and Gary Mearite was born on Nov. 1, 1990 … Has two younger twin sisters, Lauryn and Lyndsay … A criminal justice major at UNCP.
