2008 (SOPHOMORE): Attained medical redshirt after missing a majority of the season with a foot injury.

2007 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Played in all 11 games for UNCP with nine starts to his credit … Saw four starts at center, three at guard and two at tackle.

HIGH SCHOOL: A decorated athlete for West Rowan High School and coach Scott Young … Registered 165 knock-down blocks as a prep senior in leading the Falcons to an 11-2 record, their second-straight conference title and a spot in the state playoffs … Earned all-state laurels at season’s end, as well as his second consecutive all-county and all-conference award … Booked 147 knock downs as a junior in pacing WRHS to a 13-1 finish.

PERSONAL: The son of Jane and Joey Melton was born on Dec. 7, 1988 … Has an older sister, Laura … A double major in business and teaching at UNCP.
