AS A JUNIOR (2014): Played in one game … Saw action against Newberry.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2013): Played in two games on special teams for UNCP, seeing action against both Tusculum and Virginia-Lynchburg.

AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2012): Did not see playing time.

AS A FRESHMAN (2011): Redshirted. Did not see varsity action.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at Lumberton High School for coach Mike Brill … Earned all-county and second-straight all-conference honors as a prep senior en route to leading the Pirates to an 8-4 record and a spot in the state playoffs … Also lettered in track & field and basketball at Lumberton … Earned Practice Player of the Year laurels in basketball following each of his junior and senior seasons.

PERSONAL: The son of Shirlene and Dr. Michael Deese was born on Jan. 11, 1993 … Has a younger brother, Austin, and a younger sister, Kayleigh … Maintained a 3.84 cumulative grade point average at Lumberton High School and graduated in the top 12 percent of his 450-member senior class … A biology major at UNCP.
