2009 (JUNIOR): A second team selection to the D2Football.com all-NCAA Independents squad … Started all 11 games for UNCP … Tallied a team-best 52 tackles (30 solo), including 7-1/2 tackles for loss (-18 yards) … Also forced two fumbles, recovered another and registered a trio of quarterback hurries … Totaled seven or more tackles against four opponents, including a season-best eight solo stops at North Greenville … Performance against Crusaders also included one tackle for loss … Amassed seven tackles (five solo) in the season opener at Fayetteville State, including two tackles for loss … Also forced a fumble against the Broncos … Turned in tackles for loss in each of the next two outings, recording a solo stop behind the line against Saint Paul’s, while registering an assist on a tackle for loss against Wingate … Totaled five tackles (four solo, one tackle for loss) at Fairmont State, while also forcing and recovering a fumble … Also registered tackles for loss against Lane, as well as consecutive road games at North Greenville and Arkansas Tech … Turned in quarterback hurries against Saint Paul’s, Wingate and Arkansas Tech.
2008 (SOPHOMORE): A first team selection to the   D2Football.com all-NCAA Independent and second team pick to the ICAA   all-NCAA Independent squads … Played in all 10 games for UNCP with nine   starts to his credit … Led team with 57 tackles (24 solo), including  six  tackles for loss … Registered an assist on a sack, three  interceptions,  three fumble recoveries, one pass break-up and a forced  fumble … Turned  in five or more tackles against eight different  opponents … Booked  seven tackles in each of first two contests against  Brevard and Davidson  … In addition to four solo stops against the  Wildcats, also recovered a  fumble and returned an interception 28 yards  … Followed that  performance up with a five-tackle outing at Wingate in  which he tallied  another interception and a fumble recovery … Turned  in the first of  three eight-tackle games against Webber International,  while also  forcing a fumble against the Warriors … Registered a  season-best five  solo tackles at West Virginia Wesleyan … Picked off  third pass of season  against Edward Waters … Turned in eight tackles,  including three  tackles for loss (1/2 sack) against Concord and  concluded season with  eight more tackles against North Greenville …  Also broke up a pass  against the Crusaders.
2007  (FRESHMAN): A second  team selection to the ICAA all-NCAA  Independent squad … Played in all 11  games for UNCP with 10 starts to  his credit … Started first six games  at defensive end before making the  switch to linebacker prior to contest  at West Virginia Wesleyan …  Booked 65 tackles (37 solo), including  3-1/2 tackles for loss … Also  recorded a pair of sacks, one  interception, five pass break-ups, one  forced fumble, two fumble  recoveries and a blocked kick … Registered  five or more tackles against  five different opponents … Booked four  tackles (three solo), including  his first sack of the season, against  Greensboro … Turned in five  tackles, one pass break-up and a blocked  point after attempt against  Wingate … Made six tackles (three solo) and  recovered a fumble in his  final game as a defensive lineman against  Webber International … Closed  the season with 42 tackles as an inside  linebacker … Forced and  recovered a fumble at Edward Waters … Posted  four tackles, a 30-yard  interception return and three pass break-ups  against Faulkner … Posted a  school record 19 tackles (seven solo) at  Concord, and closed out  initial campaign with 10 tackles (nine solo) at  North Greenville.
HIGH  SCHOOL: A decorated  lineman at Scotland High School for coach  Mark Barnes … Earned  all-state and second-straight all-conference  accolades as a senior  after pacing Fighting Scots to a 7-5 record and a  spot in the state  playoffs … Also took home second consecutive lineman  of the year  laurels for the Scots … Was also a standout on the track  & field  squad at Scotland High School as well, taking home the  conference title  in the discus as a senior, while finishing third in the  region meet …  Also grabbed runner-up honors at the region meet in the  shot put as  well.
PERSONAL: The son of Sandra and  Ricky  Deese was born on Dec. 23, 1986 … Has two older brothers, Eric  and  Jammie … Jammie is a current UNCP assistant coach, as well as a  former  player for both the Washington Redskins and Fayetteville (N.C.)  Guard  indoor football team … Maintained a 3.2 cumulative grade point  average  at Scotland High School … An exercise and sports science major at UNCP.
