AS A SOPHOMORE (2016): Played in five games … Accounted for 26 all-purpose yards … Carried the ball two times for four yards, while also logging a 22-yard punt return … Also tallied three tackles on special teams … Tallied lone carries against both Kentucky Wesleyan and Catawba.

AS A REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2015): Played in six games … Carried the ball 23 times for 114 yards … Also caught one pass for 18 yards … Rushed four times for 15 yards in his collegiate debut against Winston-Salem State … Carried the ball nine times for a season-best 61 yards at Fayetteville State … Ran for 27 yards on five carries against Shaw, while also logging his lone pass reception of the season … Also turned in a 6-yard kickoff return against the Bears.

AS A FRESHMAN (2014): Redshirted. Did not see game action.

HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped at North Pitt High School for coach Dave Boal … Earned second-consecutive all-conference honors as a prep senior after rushing for 1,576 yards and 17 touchdowns in pacing the Panthers to a 6-6 record and a state playoff appearance … Captained North Pitt during final prep season, and took home team awards for best running back and career athletic … Ran for 1,756 yards and 19 touchdowns as a junior … Also lettered in wrestling and track & field for the Panthers.

PERSONAL: The son of Jackie Nicholson and Kevin Staton … Has a brother, Kevin II … Enrolled in pre-major studies at UNCP.
