Alvin Medina

With a bevy of coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels already under his belt, Alvin Medina continues his transition into the college coaching world as a fourth-year graduate assistant coach for the Braves in 2019-20. Medina will primarily work with UNCP’s tight ends.

Following a notable playing career as a student-athlete at Aurora (Ill.), Medina immediately got his foot in the door as an instructor for Elite Sports Performance under former National Football League standout, Macey Brooks (Cowboys, Bears, Raiders). While with that organization, he offered one-on-one tutelage for both offensive and defensive linemen, while also designing speed, agility, strength and endurance drills.

A stint as a running backs coach for a high school all-star game in Santa Cruz, Calif., helped Medina grab his first collegiate coaching position as a defensive line assistant at Langston in 2013 where he helped lead the Lions to a conference title. He would then serve one season as defensive coordinator at St. Francis Salesian College Prep in Watsonville, Calif.

Medina served as the special teams coordinator, defensive line coach and assistant strength & conditioning coach for Gavilan in Gilroy, Calif., during the 2015 campaign.

A two-time academic all-conference selection at Aurora, Medina played nose tackle, inside linebacker and fullback for the Spartans. He earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Aurora in 2012.
