An aspiring collegiate coach who has already attained valuable experience as a collegiate student-athlete at a fellow North Carolina institution, Jason Gerber begins his fourth season with UNC Pembroke in 2023-24Â as a graduate assistant coach with the Braves.

Gerber, who works primarily with UNCP’s defensive line, came to Pembroke following a standout playing career at Greensboro College. A two-time All-USA South Conference defensive lineman, as well as an academic all-conference honoree as a senior, he played in 40 career games for the Pride while accumulating 102 tackles (56 solo), including 16 tackles for loss. His career statistics line also included 5-1/2 sacks, six quarterback hurries and a trio of fumble recoveries. He finished his playing career having registered two or more tackles in 14 outings as well.

The Holly Springs, N.C., native also has related athletic experience as a manager with the Greensboro College softball program, as well as on the game operations staff with the Coastal Plain League’s Holly Springs Salamanders.

Gerber earned his bachelor’s degree in history from Greensboro College in 2020. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in teaching at UNCP.
