A four-year member of the NCAA Division I North Carolina Central volleyball squad, Marilyn Sherbondy enters her first season at UNC Pembroke in 2016-17 as a graduate assistant with the Braves.

Sherbondy played in 87 matches for the Eagles as a libero/defensive specialist, racking up 515 digs in the process. The four-time Mid-Eastern Athletic Conferene (MEAC) All-Acadamic Team honoree led NCCU to two MEAC tournament appearance and was once named the league Rookie of the Week. She set a career high in digs in 2016 with 201, an average of 2.83 per set. 

A native of Zuni Pueblo, New Mexico, Sherbondy served as a clinic coach for the Fayetteville Area Volleyball Club in 2012 and was an assistant coach for the Chapel Hill Area Volleyball Club in 2015-16.

After graduating from Jack Britt High School in Fayetteville in 2012, Sherbondy received her bachelor's degree in physical education with a concentration in exercise science from NCCU in 2016.Â
