PEMBROKE – Willy Korn threw for 168 yards and three touchdowns, while running backs Idris Anderson and Marcus Wilson combined for 173 yards on the ground, to lead visiting North Greenville to a 27-10 win over UNCP on Saturday afternoon at Grace P. Johnson Stadium.

The setback put the wraps on a .500 campaign for UNCP (5-5) who bid farewell to a 22-member senior class in a special ceremony minutes prior to kickoff. The triumph gave North Greenville (8-3) a seven-game winning streak to end its 2010 campaign, while also helping the Crusaders even up the all-time series with the Black and Gold to two games apiece.

Senior quarterback Cory Smith threw for 65 yards and UNCP's only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter, with freshman signal caller Luke Charles seeing much of the action under center in the contest. Charles finished his long outing with 215 yards on 18-of-33 passing, but marred the performance with four interceptions. Seniors St. Anthony Lloyd and Josh Throckmorton combined for 13 catches and 136 receiving yards to highlight the air attack. Freshman Te'vell Williams had five catches for 88 yards for the Braves as well.

Senior Adam Deese booked a game- and career-best 16 tackles (six solo), including one tackle for loss and a fumble recovery, to pace the Black and Gold stop troops which also got seven tackles and three pass break-ups from all-American safety Caylon Hann. Seniors Karlin Brown, James Alexander and Owen Thomas combined to record both of the sacks on the day for the Braves as well.

"I want to say thank you to our senior class because they really gave us a great foundation for this program," said UNCP head coach Pete Shinnick. "I know this season didn't go as well as I think all of us would have hoped and all of us would have liked, but our senior class gave us a lot this year. I think this game really kind of epitomizes kind of what our season has been like – we get close, and then it gets taken away. We had some turnovers and we had some opportunities early, but we never really gained any momentum."

UNCP saw seven trips to the red zone against the Crusaders, but came away with just three points from the opportunities. The Braves drove inside the 20-yard line on each of its first three possessions of the game, as well as each of its last four possessions of the contest, but turned the ball over four times and missed two field goals on those possessions.

Anderson's 14-yard touchdown run midway through the first half gave the visitors a comfortable 13-3 lead, but the Crusaders regained possession with less than 20 seconds to play in the opening stanza and padded its lead out to 20-3 heading into intermission when Korn found Sean Wright on a 50-yard scoring strike with seven seconds left on the scoreboard. Wright would haul in his third touchdown catch of the day with just less than six minutes left to extend the visitors' advantage out to 27-3.

Despite struggling with an arm injury for most of the game, Smith came in to lead one final scoring drive in his career, capping a 6-play, 57-yard scoring drive with a 20-yard pass to Lloyd that capped the day's scoring with 1:02 left to play in the game.
