Tampa, Fla. – The duo of freshman Natalie Klemann and sophomore Starr Gilley threw a combined five-hit shutout to lead the UNCP softball team to a 3-0 victory over Nova Southeastern in the first game of Friday's nonconference doubleheader in Tampa, Fla.

The Lady Braves (13-10, 2-2 PBC) scored one run in the bottom of the fifth inning and two in the bottom of the sixth to capture the victory despite recording just three hits against the Sharks' (15-6) Laura Saladrigas.

Klemann allowed just three hits in five complete innings to up her season record to 3-3 and Gilley completed the two-inning save after not allowing a run on two hits in two innings of work.

Senior Lynn Grantham led the squad on offense with a 1-for-3 effort that featured a two-RBI double in the sixth inning that scored junior Ashley Harrell and senior Morgan Patrick.

Patrick went 1-for-2 with a run scored while senior Courtney Hill finished her day with a 1-for-3 line.
