PEMBROKE – The UNC Pembroke women's soccer team netted a pair of goals in each half and withstood a late comeback effort by visiting Pfeiffer to register its first win of the season with a 4-2 triumph over the Falcons on Thursday afternoon at Varsity Grounds.

The victory snapped a three-game skid for the Braves (1-3-0) who improved to 11-4-0 all-time in home openers. Pfeiffer fell to 1-13-0 all-time in the series with the Black & Gold, including a 0-6 mark in Pembroke.

Courtney Crump tallied both a goal and an assist to lead the offensive charge for the Black & Gold who got scores from four different players in the outing. Katie Watkins, Jasmine Senécal-Guzman and Amber Watkins all scored for the hosts as well. Brae Buster and Katlyn Stevens both provided goals for the visitors.

Stevens hit the back of the net at the 3:05 mark to help Pfeiffer draw first blood, but UNCP knotted the score back up on a score by Katie Watkins in the 10th minute, and then took the lead for good on Senécal-Guzman's strike in the 32nd minute.

UNCP will close out a short two-game home stand on Saturday when it suits up to battle Georgia Southwestern (1-2, 0-0 PBC) in the front half of a 1 p.m. Peach Belt Conference soccer doubleheader at Varsity Grounds. Admission to all 2015 UNCP soccer home games is free.
