MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Senior
Caroline Pridgen racked up two block assists to bring her season total to 43, second best in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC), but the UNC Pembroke volleyball team fell in three sets on the road at Georgia College Friday night at the Centennial Center.
The Braves (1-16, 0-6 PBC) hit .018 as a team on the way to their ninth-consecutive loss, while Georgia College (8-3, 3-2 PBC) has now won three of its last four to vault into fifth in the league race with the 25-13, 25-13, 25-15 victory.
Georgia College compiled a .337 hitting percentage, highlighted by a dominant .632 clip in the second set. UNCP tallied 25 kills and three blocks, led in both categories by Pridgen.
Anna Heinz and
Alexis Hollis each recorded a service ace, while
Alicia Paeplow dished out a team-high 14 assists.
Cayce Bell was responsible for 18 of the Black & Gold's 41 digs.
Pridgen's seven kills were followed by
Aquia Jones with five, while
Makaylah Elliott tacked on an additional four. The Bobcats put two players in double-digit kills, Taylor Svehla with 11 and Ashley Savranksy with 10.
UNCP returns to the court Saturday, a 2 p.m. tilt with Augusta at the Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars (8-3, 4-1 PBC) sit third in the conference standings and are winners of three straight and seven of their last eight. Last season, Augusta got the best of the Braves twice, both in straight sets.
