PEMBROKE – Just two days removed from thrilling finishes against Armstrong State on Saturday evening, the UNC Pembroke men's and women's basketball teams will hit the road on Monday when the Braves make the short trip down I-95 to take on Peach Belt Conference East Division rival Francis Marion in a 5:30 p.m. doubleheader at the Smith University Center.
 
Fans can follow both games for free via a live audio stream on the UNCP Braves YouTube channel with Cameron Songer handling the play-by-play duties. The game can also be followed via live video and statistics link provided by USCA as well.

WOMEN'S NOTES

• The Lady Braves (13-5, 8-3 PBC) improved to 9-1 at home this season with a 71-70 win over Armstrong State on Saturday afternoon at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. The current nine-game home winning streak is UNCP's longest since it joined NCAA Division II prior to the 1992-93 season. It is the most home victories in a season since the 2011-12 campaign (9-3) and matches the second-most home wins in the NCAA Division II era.
• The Black & Gold sits alone atop the PBC East Division, leading both Lander and USC Aiken by a half game. The Braves are 4-4 away from home this season.
• Junior Brianna Baham knocked down the game-winning free throw with 1.2 seconds to play on Saturday, and finished with a team-best 15 points. It is the sixth time in the last eight games Baham has scored in double-digits. Jonissa Monley leads all Braves with 11.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game, while Jasmine Huntley chips in 10.1 points per outing.
• UNCP still boasts a league-leading 34.4-percent mark from behind the arc and make a PBC-best 7.5 3-pointers per contest. Monley ranks in the league's top 10 in rebounds per game, while both Blair Silliman (36.2) and Ebone Stevens (44.7) are in the top 10 in 3-point shooting percentage. Stevens's clip is tops in the PBC.   
• Francis Marion (9-11, 4-7 PBC) had its two-game win streak stopped with an 85-47 setback to Lander on Saturday in Greenwood, S.C. The Patriots have now dropped six of their last eight games.
• Shaunice Fulmore leads FMU with 15.8 points per game, followed by Briana Burgins (12.9 points/game) and Khai Chandler (12.5). Burgins grabs a team-best 8.7 boards per outing which ranks eighth-best in the conference, and Chandler is among the league's top 10 in 3-point shooting at 34.3 percent.
• The Patriots lead the all-time series 39-24, but UNCP has won three of the last four meetings. The sides split a pair of games last season, with the home team coming out on top both times.

MEN'S NOTES

• The Braves (14-6, 7-4 PBC) saw their four-game home win streak come to an end with an 87-84 setback to Armstrong State on Saturday. UNCP led by six points with 2:04 left to play, but the Pirates scored the game's last nine points, including a tie-breaking 3-pointer as time expired.
• If UNCP needs a magic number this season, it is 82. The Black & Gold is 11-1 in 2016-17 when holding opponents to less than 83 points. The lone loss in that situation was an 80-78 setback to Augusta at home.
• The Braves have shot nearly 79 percent (44-for-56) from the free throw line over the last three games, and have fared better at the stripe inside opposing arenas this season as well. UNCP has canned 74.2 percent of their attempts from the charity stripe on the road this season, compared to a 71.9 percent success rate from the line at home.
• The Black & Gold will tote the league's top scoring offense (86.2 points/game) into Monday's game, but will face one of the league's top defensive teams in Florence, S.C. Francis Marion has held opponents to just 43.8 percent shooting (5^th PBC) this season, and has pulled down 26.7 defensive rebounds an outing (5^th PBC) as well.
• The Patriots (7-12, 3-8 PBC) have dropped eight of their last 11 contests, including an 80-67 setback at Lander on Saturday evening. Four of Francis Marion's seven victories this season have come at home where the Patriots are scoring 83.0 points per game. FMU is averaging just 67.1 points in nine road games this season.
• Detrek Browning carries a team-best 19.0 points per game (3^rd PBC), and boasts a league-best 2.5 steals an outing as well. Judah Alexander has scored a modest 13.0 points per game in 2016-17, but has canned better than 56 percent of his shots from the field and ranks 10^th among PBC leaders with 7.2 rebounds per game.
• The Braves have captured 41 of the 73 previous meetings with Francis Marion heading into Monday evening's matchup in Pembroke, but are just 23-26 against the Patriots in the NCAA Division II era (1992-present). The Black & Gold has won nine of the last 13 series matchups, but the Patriots stopped a three-game series skid on the shoulders of a last-second shot in Florence last season.
