Madelyn Ashwell registered a 13-kill performance in the opening matchup of the day with Coker, and then turned in seven more in the nightcap with 24th-ranked Wingate, but the UNC Pembroke volleyball team dropped both matchups on Saturday afternoon at the Coker Tri-Match.

FIRST SET
- Coker used an Olivia Veith kill to take an early 3-2 advantage, but the Braves captured nine of the next 10 points and eventually grabbed an 11-4 advantage on a kill from Ashwell.
- The Cobras put together a 9-0 run to take a 12-11 lead, and then rattled off six-straight points to take a 19-13 lead minutes later.
- The Black & Gold fought off three-straight set points to pull to within 24-19, but a service error would quell the run and hand the Cobras a 25-19 win in the opening set.
SECOND SET
- The Cobras led 10-4 after a kill by Madison Bingle, but
Makaylah Elliott sparked a 3-0 run that pulled UNCP to within a trio of points, 10-7
- Coker grabbed nine of the set's next 10 points to pad its lead out to 19-8, and went back and forth with the Braves for the next 10 minutes before recording three-straight points for a 25-14 win in the second set.
THIRD SET
- The Cobras grabbed an 8-7 lead, but an error on the ensuing serve tipped the favor toward the Braves who captured 10 of the next 14 points to forge a 17-12 lead on a service ace from
Cayce Bell.
- Coker put together six-straight points to pull to within 21-20, and then fought off two set points to make it 24-23 after a service ace from Taylor du Bray.
- UNCP captured the set, 25-23, thanks to blocks from
Bailee Jones and
April Tankersley.
FOURTH SET
- Coker led 18-10 after a kill from Bingle, but UNCP responded by taking six of the next seven points to pull to within three, 19-16, on
Amber Tyndall's kill.
- The Braves, again, fought off consecutive set points by the Cobras, including a big block from Tankersley that made it a 24-23 set, but the Cobras wrapped up the match with a 25-23 third set thanks to an attack error by the Braves.
NOTABLES
- UNCP out-hit the Cobras, .227 to .163, on the way to taking the third set, but finished with a .129 hitting percentage in the matchup.
- Three Braves – Ashwell (13), Tyndall (12) and Elliott (10) – turned in double-digit kill totals, while Jones came away with 27 assists and a dozen digs.
- Bell finished the match with 24 digs – the 10th time this season she has registered 20 or more digs in an outing.

- UNCP scored three-straight points to make it 23-12 after an attack error by the Bulldogs, but Wingate won the first set 25-12 with two-straight points.
SECOND SET
- Wingate hit .500 in the second set, and led 19-6 after a set error by the Braves.
- UNCP fought off an initial set point by Wingate with a kill from Ashwell, but the Bulldogs won the second set, 25-10, moments later on an attack error by the Braves.
THIRD SET
- Ashwell's kill pulled UNCP to within a lone point of the Bulldogs, 12-11, midway through the final set, but Wingate rattled off seven-straight points to pull away.
- A kill by
Aquia Jones quelled a late 5-0 run by the Bulldogs, but Wingate used a kill from Hannah Givens to grab a 25-15 win in set three.
NOTABLES
- The 24th-ranked Bulldogs hit .314 or better in all three sets, and finished the day with a .398 hitting percentage.
- Ashwell finished the match with team-bests in both kills (7) and digs (8), while
Savannah Bean was UNCP's best hitter at .333.
