MEN'S NOTES
  • The Braves (15-7, 8-5 PBC) snapped a three-game skid with an impressive 82-62 win over Flagler on Wednesday at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court. The result marked the 10th home victory of the season for UNCP – the fourth time that the club has reached double-digit home triumphs in the last nine years under head coach Ben Miller.
  • UNCP is 5-4 away from Pembroke this season, despite shooting better than 46 percent from the field in opponent arenas. All four road losses have been decided by four points or less, with the 96-92 setback at Francis Marion on January 30 marking the largest margin of defeat for the Black & Gold in true road games.
  • The Black & Gold still boasts the league's top scoring offense (86.1 points/game), and the Braves also lead the league with a +8.6 scoring margin. Augusta ranks second in scoring margin (+8.5) this season, while also boasting the PBC's third-best scoring defense (71.8 points allowed/game).
  • PBC-leading Augusta (16-5, 9-4 PBC) has now dropped two of its last three games following Wednesday's 76-65 loss at Lander. It was the second-straight road loss for the Jags, and the largest margin of defeat in a league tilt for the club since an 87-73 home loss to Armstrong in early February of last season.
  • The Jaguars are 10-1 in Christenberry Fieldhouse this season, and will ride an eight-game home win streak into Saturday's matchup with the Braves. Keshun Sherrill, who scored a game-best 18 points in an 80-78 victory over the Braves on January 2, carries the league's second-best scoring average (22.1 points/game), while Kyle Doyle (9.2) leads the conference in field goal percentage (.621).
  • Augusta has captured 41 of the 53 previous matchups with the Braves, and will ride a three-game series win streak into Saturday's outing. A total of 28 games in the series have been decided by seven points or less, including the last three matchups.
