AUGUSTA, Ga. – Home-standing Augusta rallied back from a 7-2 deficit in the seventh inning to tie the score in the ninth, but the UNC Pembroke baseball team plated an unearned run on
Ethan Baucom's grounder in the 10
th to even up the weekend series with a 9-8 victory over the Jaguars on Saturday.
Alex Simpson doubled and drove in a pair of runs on a 3-for-5 outing for the Black & Gold, while Baucom doubled in a run as well on a 2-for-5 hitting line.
Nick Debo (2-for-3) singled, doubled and walked three times to fuel a multi-hit day at the plate as well.
Jamaal Cummings (3-for-4) singled three times and scored thrice to pace the Jaguars (8-11, 3-5), while Cody Lanford hit a three-run triple in the seventh and scored a pair of runs on a 2-for-3 plate performance.
Kyle Ramsey (2-1) picked up the win in relief for the Braves despite surrendering one unearned run on one hit and a trio of walks in two innings of work. David Hagelston (0-4) took the tough-luck loss for the hosts after allowing one unearned run on two hits and three walks in 2-2/3 innings of relief.
Simpson's two-out RBI double capped off a 4-run seventh inning that allowed the Black & Gold to pad its lead out to 7-2, but the Jaguars scored four runs on five hits in the bottom of the frame to climb back into the contest. The Jaguars would knot the score up in the ninth, utilizing RBI singles from Cummings and Tyler Roberts, as well as an ill-timed miscue by the UNCP defense.

th and eventually moved both runners into scoring position for Baucom who put the ball in play to plate
