PEMBROKE
– The UNC Pembroke baseball team rallied for seven runs in its last three at-bats to support a phenomenal start from right-hander Kyle Boraski as the Braves fended off a weekend sweep at the hands of Georgia College with a 7-3 victory over the Bobcats on Sunday afternoon at Sammy Cox Field.

The victory put the kibosh on a three-game skid for the Braves (17-9, 3-6 PBC) who have now registered nine or more hits in their last seven outings. The setback snapped a five-game win streak for the Bobcats (16-7, 5-4).

Luke Jackson doubled and drove in three runs on a 2-for-4 outing for the Black & Gold, while Roberto Rivera singled twice and scored a pair of runs on a 2-for-5 hitting line. Jarratt Mobley (2-for-4) turned in a pair of hits for the Braves as well.

Wesley Wommack singled three times and drove in one run on a 3-for-4 day at the plate to pace the visitors.

Boraski (1-2) struck out three and scattered three hits over a season-long six innings of work to earn the win for UNCP. Trevor Guthrie (1-2) surrendered three earned runs on six hits and a pair of walks in five innings of work to absorb the loss for the Bobcats. He also struck out two.

Wommack's two-out RBI single in the third inning represented the only offense for either team through the first 5-1/2 innings of play. The Braves loaded the bases with their first three at-bats in the bottom of the sixth and eventually pushed across a trio of runs to take the lead for good.

Georgia College plated a lone run in each of the eighth and ninth innings to stay in the game, but Jackson's two-run single in the bottom of the eighth would give the Black & Gold plenty of breathing room.

UNCP will continue an eight-game home stand on Tuesday when they suit up to welcome region rival Wingate (13-15) for a 6 p.m. contest at Sammy Cox Field.
