William Robbins doubled in a run on a 2-for-2 day to pace Francis Marion, while Antonio Pino singled and scored with a pinch hit at-bat in the ninth.
Kyle Boraski (4-2) registered a win for the fourth-straight start after striking out four and yielding just three hits in five innings from the hill. Starter Sam High (1-2) allowed six earned runs on as many hits in just 1-1/3 innings of work to saddle the loss for the visitors.
A 3-run bomb by Aleman Saba highlighted a 5-run inning for the Black & Gold in the first, but UNCP led by as many as 10 runs after Aleman Saba singled in Debo in the sixth. The Patriots used a wild pitch to spoil the shutout with one out in the ninth, but added two more runs on run-scoring at-bats from Connor Howell and Robbins.
The Braves will open up a five-game road trip on Tuesday when they make the short trip up U.S. 74 to battle Wingate (17-22) in the second half of a home-and-home series at Ron Christopher Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. UNCP posted a 7-3 win over the Bulldogs on March 21 in Pembroke.
