WOMEN'S NOTES
  • The Lady Braves (6-10, 4-8 PBC) hauled a one-point lead into the locker room at halftime on Wednesday evening at Francis Marion, but the host Patriots outscored UNCP by 20 points in the second half, including a 26-9 edge in the third quarter alone to dispatch the Braves 82-63 in PBC action.
  • UNCP was looking for its third-straight PBC road victory on Wednesday against Francis Marion after knocking off Georgia Southwestern and USC Aiken on Jan. 15 and Jan. 17, respectively. The Braves have won three-straight road league tilts just twice since joining the PBC in 1992-93, with the most recent occurrence coming in the 2006-07 season.
  • Just over halfway through the PBC slate, the Black & Gold finds itself in a tie for eighth place in the league race. The top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament after all 22 PBC games have been played. Of the Braves' 10 remaining games, only three are against teams tied or below them in the standings, while seven are against teams in spots one through seven in the league race.
  • UNCP has held four of its last six opponents under 38-percent shooting overall and three of the last five under 25 percent from behind the arc. The Braves are 1-7 this season when opponents shoot at least 38 percent from the field and 5-3 when limiting opponents to a shooting percentage under 38 percent.
  • Allen leads all Braves at 14.1 points per game, which ranks seventh in the league. She has logged 12-straight double-digit scoring performances and scored at least 10 points in 13 of the 16 games this season. Allen has hauled in at least eight rebounds in five of the last seven outings and leads all Braves with 6.5 boards per game this season.
  • UNCP and Flagler have met just 16 times in a series that began during the 2009-10 season. The Saints lead the all-time series 9-7, including a 5-3 edge in games played in St. Augustine. The sides split a pair of meetings last season, with the home team coming out victorious in both contests. Eleven of the 16 meetings have been decided by at least 13 points and the Braves are 7-4 in those 11 meetings.
ABOUT FLAGLER
  • The Saints (12-4, 10-2 PBC) ran their current winning streak to three games with a 71-58 road defeat of Columbus State on Wednesday evening. Flagler used an early 11-2 run to jump out to a 19-8 lead and never trailed in the victory. The win tied the school record for most wins in conference play ay 10.
  • Flagler has dropped just one home game this season, which was a 73-51 setback to Florida Southern in the season's second outing. The Saints are averaging a whopping 78.4 points per game at home and knocking down 47.1 percent of their shots in St. Augustine.
  • The Saints haul in a PBC-best  31.1 defensive rebounds per game and rank second in the league in field goals made per game (27.6), field goal percentage (45.1), rebounding margin (6.4), blocks per game (4.9) and opponents field goal percentage (36.4).
  • After a 5-21, 3-16 PBC record a year ago that saw Flagler finish one game out of last place in the league, the Saints currently sit just a half game out of first place in the conference race and were slotted seventh in the most recent edition of the D2SIDA Southeast Region poll.
  • Four Saints average double-figure points per game, led by 14.1 from senior Bri Roberts, while classmate Tiffany Hodge chips in 12.4 per outing. Rayven Wade averages 11.1 points per tilt, but has not played in a game since Jan. 3 after staring the seasons' first nine contests. Flagler sports the league's most efficient shooter and leading rebounder in Tabitha Odabe, who averages 10.1 points per game on 64.4-percent shooting and graves 12.4 boards per game. Odabe has notched double-digit boards in 11 of 15 games and eclipsed the 20-rebound mark in back-to-back games against Young Harris (21) on Jan. 13 and North Georgia (23) on Jan. 15.

MEN'S NOTES
  • The 21st-ranked Braves (14-4, 10-2 PBC) had their nine-game win streak snapped with a 90-83 setback at Francis Marion on Wednesday evening. The result also snapped a 12-game win streak against Peach Belt Conference opponents away from Pembroke, and marked the third-straight series setback for the Black & Gold in Florence, S.C.
  • UNCP has captured 24 of its last 29 outings dating back to a 76-69 home win over Georgia College on January 6 of last season. That span includes a 12-1 clip at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court, as well as an 11-3 record in true road games. The Braves have also reeled off a 17-2 mark inside PBC play during that stretch as well.
  • The Black & Gold will enter the weekend sporting the league's best field goal percentage defense (40.3 percent), while also pacing the PBC in rebounding margin (+7.6) and blocked shots per game (6.8). UNCP has held eight opponents to sub-40 percent shooting this season, and has out-rebounded 14 of its previous 17 opponents as well. The Braves have also registered seven or more blocks in eight outings, including four double-digit swat attacks.
  • The Braves are 14-2 all-time against Flagler in a series that dates back to the 2009-10 season – the first campaign for the Saints as a member of the Peach Belt Conference. UNCP is a perfect 8-0 in the series at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court, and has won the last three matchups against Flagler in St. Augustine, Fla.
  • In the midst of his 10th season at the helm of the Black & Gold in 2017-18, Ben Miller needs just four more victories this season to match former Pembroke State legend Lacey Gane (169-108 from 1965-75) atop the program's all-time wins list. Miller has led the Braves to a 165-119 (.581) record in 9+ seasons as head coach.
