Wrestling Falls To Seton Hill, Millersville At Kutztown Duals

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The UNC Pembroke wrestling team held leads in each of its day-one matchups at the Kutztown Duals, but had its three-match win streak snapped with losses to both Seton Hill (23-20) and Millersville (23-13) on Friday evening inside Kutztown's Keystone Arena.

Seton Hill grabbed the first three bouts in the opening matchup of the day to forge a 15-0 advantage on the team scoreboard, but UNCP answered with five-straight victories, including Faris Teia's first-period pin in the 184-pound match, to go out in front, 20-15. The Griffins would rally, however, and knotted up the team score on Jacob Temple's technical fall victory at 197 pounds, before Jody Crouse posted a 3-1 decision in the heavyweight bout to complete the comeback.

Nick Daggett gave the Braves an early lead with a 20-11 major decision in his 125-pound bout with Aaron Wildonger in the nightcap with the Marauders, but Millersville used key bonus-point victories at both 141 and 197 pounds to key the comeback win. Down by as many as eight points on the team scoreboard after the 165-pound match, UNCP stormed back to pull to within two points, 15-13, on Faris Teia's 8-3 decision at 184 pounds, but Millersville got a technical fall victory from Colton Dull at 197 pounds to seal the outcome.

The Braves will close out their stay at the Kutztown Duals with a trio of matchups on Saturday. UNCP will grapple with 25th-ranked Shippensburg (5-3) at 11 a.m., and follow with contests against host-Kutztown (3-6) and East Stroudsburg (2-8) at 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m., respectively.
