MEN'S NOTES
  • The Braves (9-3, 5-1 PBC) strung together their fourth-straight victory with an 82-75 victory over Georgia College in double overtime on Saturday evening. The Bobcats hit late game-tying 3-pointers in both regulation and the first overtime period, but the Black & Gold used an 8-0 run in the second extra frame to key the win.
  • UNCP has posted an impressive 83-22 (.790) record at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court over the past eight seasons, and has captured 10 of its last 11 outings in Pembroke heading into Wednesday's tilt with Augusta. The Braves are 19-3 at Lumbee Guaranty Bank Court since the close of the 2015-16 campaign.
  • The Braves have outscored opponents by nearly 10 points per game (81.3 to 71.4) at home this season, while also out-rebounding those same foes by nearly 12 boards an outing (+11.6).
  • The Black & Gold is holding opponents to just a 38.0 percent shooting clip over its current four-game win streak, while also registering 9.0 steals and 5.8 blocks over that span as well. Conversely, UNCP has connected on nearly 42 percent of its shots from the field during that time, while also putting up 81.5 points an outing.
  • Brandon Watts (17.0 points/game), Nigel Grant (15.5) and James Murray-Boyles (13.5) have combined to score 46.0 points per game during UNCP's current win streak, while also combining to shoot better than 49 percent from the field. That shooting performance also includes a 16-for-40 (.400) success rate from the perimeter for the trio.
  • The Braves are just 13-41 against the Jaguars in a series that dates all the way back to the 1992-93 campaign, but UNCP has picked up five wins over the Jaguars since the start of the 2011-12 season. Twenty of the 54 previous meetings between the two clubs have been decided by five points or less, including the last six matchups. Augusta has won six of the last eight contests with the Braves, but UNCP snapped a four-game series losing streak with a road win over the Jaguars in February.
  • In the midst of his 10th season at the helm of the Black & Gold in 2017-18, Ben Miller needs just nine more wins to match former Pembroke State legend Lacey Gane (1965-75) atop the program's all-time wins list. Miller has led the Braves to a 160-118 (.576) record in 9+ seasons as head coach.
