Volleyball Sweeps Claflin To Pick Up First Road Victory

ORANGEBURG, S.C. – Freshman Brianna Warren hit better than .300 on the night at the net and registered double-digit kills for the first time this season to lead the UNC Pembroke volleyball team to a 3-0 win (26-24, 25-18, 25-22) at Claflin on Tuesday and give the Braves consecutive victories for the first time this season.
 
UNCP (5-11) totaled eight service aces and four blocks on the night to improve to 5-0 all-time against the Panthers. It was the third-straight setback for Claflin (4-7) who fell to 0-3 in non-conference matchups this season as well.

GAME REPLAY
SET 1 I 26-24 Claflin put together an 8-2 run and used an attack error by the Braves to forge a late 19-13 lead, but UNCP clawed back into the match and eventually took a 23-22 advantage on a kill from Aquia Jones. The Braves suffered a bad set on their first set point, but put the set away on a sevice error by the Panthers, as well as a kill by Brianna Warren.
SET 2 I 25-18 The Panthers grabbed a 5-2 lead on Courtney Taylor's kill, but the Braves would answer with seven-straight points, including six behind the serving of newcomer Hannah Talliere, to storm out in front. Claflin regained the lead, 14-13, on a kill from Jordan Taylor, but UNCP answered with three-straight points to take the lead, and then used a late 5-0 run to key the set two victory.
SET 3 I 25-22 Claflin scored four-straight points to negate an early deficit and grab an 18-17 advantage, but the Braves tacked up five of the next six points to key the match-clinching set. The Panthers closed to within a point, 23-22, on an attack error by the visitors, but the Braves closed out the set on a Shannon Skryd kill and a service ace from Angelica Biele.
