MOUNT OLIVE – Sophomore Silus Kipkoech and senior Logan Ward finished four seconds apart on the way to grabbing the top two spots in the men's 8K, while freshman Skylar Moreno led the way for the Braves with a third-place finish in the women's 6K, as the UNC Pembroke cross country teams both registered a runner-up showing at the Mount Olive Twilight on Friday.
 
 Riley Axe (10^th) turned in a time of 25:21.3 to join Moreno in the top 10 on the women's side, while Molly McCann (12^th), Sam Badami (13^th) and Michaela Reynolds (15^th) posted top-15 showings. Newcomer Jarett Arabie (14^th), Matthew Martin (15^th), Ean Ormsby (16th) and Holden Newman (19^th) grabbed top-20 finishes in the men's race.
 
The Black & Gold will return to action again on Saturday when it heads to Augusta, Ga., for the Jaguar XC Invitational at the historic Redcliffe Plantation.
