KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The 10
th-ranked UNC Pembroke wrestling team dropped both matches on opening day action at the Kutztown Duals on Friday, falling 34-1 to 16
th-ranked Kutztown before falling victim to a 27-18 comeback by Seton Hill in the nightcap.
Newcomer
Kaleb Warner toughed out an 8-7 decision over Kutztown's Austin Scrivani to put the Braves (3-4) on the board in the dual, but the nationally-ranked Bears (6-1) captured the remaining nine individual bouts, including a trio of bonus-point victories. For matchups were decided by two points or less, including three that fell to Kutztown's side of the mat.
UNCP tacked up wins in each of the first three matchups against the Griffins (5-4), and eventually grabbed a 16-6 advantage after
Tyler Makosy's 10-6 decision at 157 pounds, but Seton Hill made it a clean sweep the rest of the way out. The Griffins knotted the team score up at 18 points apiece on the shoulders of Sean Hoover's pin at 184 pounds, and then got a 10-4 decision in the 197-pound matchup and another pin in the heavyweight bout.
With Winter Storm Harper expected to dump 8 to 11 inches of snow on eastern Pennsylvania on Saturday, the remaining schedule at the Kutztown Duals has been altered. Stay tuned to UNCPBraves.com for further updates.
